Cheer up your Monday + My first working week in five!

I'm doing my internship at Microsoft since last week, which means I'm obliged to have the Monday blues! (In my head, working people need to have the 'I don't like Mondays blues') But with every problem comes a remedy, so here's mine. It's called Runaway Baby from Bruno Mars...

Btw, here is my first working week in five:

I'm doing my internship at Microsoft (web editor for http://www.msn.be/). I will work there till the 6th of April.

- Learning starts when you leave school. I can not remember my head being this full with new information, but that's a good thing, I love learning.

- I invented badge dating! Since I forget my badge every time I leave my desk, I need to find someone helpful who will badge me into the elevator on my way back to my floor (the 6th by the way). Also a great way to get to know new people, may come in handy during your first week.

- "Here's your agenda, and he's already quite full", said my supervisor. The thought that popped into my head: "Oh my dear god, I don't know I have an agenda and he's already full, help me please?!" But I managed and it wasn't as frightening as I originally thought.

- Lunch date with collegues. On friday I had my first lunch date with collegues, on the menu: Thai food! Nice way to start your first week!

- I can't stop thinking! Seriously. When I'm driving my car, at the train or the bus, during my dance lessons, but most annoyingly, in bed! I just can't stop thinking about new idea's. I even started dreaming about them. My head takes "trying to be creative" to a whole new level, I tell you.

But so far I love what I do and I'm pretty sure it will ben April in no time...

Now that I'm growing my hair I'm learning about the possibilities to style long hair. My favorite is the fishtail. But my hair isn't that long yet. Sooooo only one thing to do in the meantime: wait and learn how to braid a fishtail!

The person who said this, and apparently that's Sophie, age two, must be so smart! And that makes sence to me because I believe that kids are so much smarter then adults. They just say what they think, they are always (too maybe? No!) honest, and they just do what they feel like. I love how a kids mind works.

Comfort Clothes



When I see people dress really comfortable I can't help but thinking that there are two groups among them: Those who get away with it and look great, and those who don't get away with it should rethink their combo of comfort clothing. I only dress comfy when I'm at home or when I'm in the dance school, just because I'm a bit scared to look like that second group. But that was before I saw these clothes by Ulla Johnson (collection Fall 2010). I thought to myself that I should just try it out. I already have the same looking lights grey pants so...

Just Dance!



I went to Kamata 2 for one, the largest hip hop event in Belgium, this weekend. It just blew me away! I took some workshops by Laura Edwards and one by Julia Spiesser. I already thought that these workshops made my day but then come along the dance show and these guys, Meastro Crew, danced their heart out.
I can just say 'wooooow'.

Halloween Feel Choreo

A friend of mine send me this choreography and I was totally inspired when I saw it. Brings me into the halloween mood. What an amazing style and expression that these dancers have! It's what I always find the most hard to work on. You can learn the steps and the choreo but you must create your own style and flow in a dance. Sometimes difficult for me and that's why this is such an inspiration!

Dance Inspiration

 

I really needed some dance inspiration this week! At the end of November me and my teammates will perform on Kamata in Brussels. We started training at the beginning of September so we don't have a lot of time to prepare and train. So now and then I start to feel a bit nerveous. At a moment like that I'm in desperate need of some inspiration like for instance this little video. This choreography really got me motivated!

Oh and of course my lovely teammates are a great support as well)

Franco Dragone's New Show

'The House of Dancing Water' is the new spectacle from Franco Dragone (Belgian). He and his team, the 'Franco Dragone Entertainment Group, trained for and worked at the show for five years! You can only see this spectacle in Macau, China, were he built a whole new theater for this performance.

Good to know: The show includes 17 million liters of water!

Short hair love

I just love love love Emma Watson's new haircut!

And short hairdo's in general actually. I have always worn my hair half long or short but I have never had the guts to go this short. Maybe I should take the risk and try it sometime...

And if it doesn't work for me, it'll always grow back.

House Dance Love!!

The new dance season started in the dance school where I dance and teach, 'K!dans', with the Back2Dance workshops. It's three days of workshops with choreographers from in- and outside our dance school. Today I followed a session 'House Dance' with Mamson and 'Poppin and Lockin' with Alvarez. I discovered that 'Poppin and Lockin' is not really my cup of tea but I actually already knew that. On the other hand I fell in love with 'House Dance'! I just love the quick movements of the feet and the style and the flow of this dance.

Below you can find a little video where Mamson performs freestyle 'House Dance'.

And I will need some more practice to do something like that, but I'll keep working on it!
