Treasure in unhabited Parisian Flat

For 70 years, this Parisian apartment had been left uninhabited and under lock and key. The rent was faithfully paid throughout these years, but nobody had a clue of what was inside. The flat contained a 2,1 million euro painting.

The woman who owned the flat moved to the south of France before the Second World War, but never returned. The apartment was discovered because the woman recently died at the age of 91. Experts were tasked to draw up an inventory of the woman's possessions and found her flat in Paris.

When they entered the apartment, one of the experts' eye fell onto the painting of a woman in a pink muslin evening dress. The tableau was by the 19th century Italian artist Giovanni Boldini and the woman pictured on the canvas was his former muse. This muse's granddaughter is the woman who left her apartment unhabited for 70 years.

Such stories bring out the journalist  in me. I hope that I discover a story like this one day.

Franco Dragone's New Show

'The House of Dancing Water' is the new spectacle from Franco Dragone (Belgian). He and his team, the 'Franco Dragone Entertainment Group, trained for and worked at the show for five years! You can only see this spectacle in Macau, China, were he built a whole new theater for this performance.

Good to know: The show includes 17 million liters of water!
Woooow to that!

It looks amazing! Watch and see for yourself...

And what do you think?

Manhattan Skyline by Memory!

Stephen Wiltshire, an autistic artist from Britain, took a twenty-minute helicopter ride over Manhattan. Afterwards he drew the Manhattan skyline from memory on an 18 foot canvas. The amazing and unbelievable thing is that every (!) building was drawn correctly and perfectly to scale. Woooow!

More about this here.

Rome: Day 1

After the exams, I went to Rome with a good friend, Dana (from Cupid has got a gun), and this is what our first day was like.

After a two-and-a-half hour flight (from Charleroi) we arrived in Rome.
We flew over the Alps...

...and over Rome city. Can you see the Colosseum already?

Once we got settled in our B&B, we started our actual citytrip. Our first stop: the Trevi Fountains.

Then we visited the Pantheon...

...and some little churches near the Pantheon.
I totally fell in love with the ceilings of the San Ignazio church.
Those romans can come and paint my room anytime they want!

And last: we went to the Piazza Navona

Day two will be up soon!
